Y ang Berbahagia Puan Pengetua Sekolah, Puan Salmah bt. Mat Esa, Puan Hajah Azizah bt. Abdul Rahman, selaku Penolong Kanan 1, Penolong HEM, Encik Gurmit, Puan Chia Kim Moi, selaku penyelia petang sekolah, guru-guru disiplin, guru-guru yang dihormati, Lembaga Pengawas SMKDU, para jemputan dan seterusnya, teman-teman pelajar sekalian. Salam sejahtera dan selamat pagi saya ucapkan. Terlebih dahulu, izinkan saya menyampaikan ucapan saya dalam Bahasa Inggeris.
On behalf of the SMK Damansara Utama Board of Prefects, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our Prefects' Installation function this year. First and foremost, I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the teachers and the prefects of the school who made it possible for us to hold this function, today.
We are here to welcome our new board of prefects and to bid farewell to the Form 5 prefects who will be stepping down from their posts to prepare for their SPM examination.
The coming year will bring forth new challenges and we sincerely hope that we can keep up with the high standard set by our senior prefects. Our mission for this year is to improve on the existing system and to foster a closer relationship between students and prefects.
To the prefects of the school:
Understand the problems of the students. It is our duty to assist them in whatever ways and to make their hours spent in school both enjoyable and fruitful. The next few months will require the commitment and dedication of the newly elected prefects to acheive this goal.
Ladies and gentlemen,
This tree (pointing to Tunas Harapan), with messages hung on it, symbolizes our commitment to our pledge. This is our Tunas Harapan and will be kept in the prefects' room as a constant reminder to the oath that we have undertaken today. Over the weekend, I went through the messages and was encouraged by all the good intentions which the prefects have written. To end my speech, I would like to recite two poems written by the junior prefects which I found to be most appropriate:
Berarak mendung tinggi di awan,
Di langit yang tinggi megah terbelah,
Segunung budi kami curahkan,
Agar menjulang tinggi nama sekolah,
To honour and to serve,
Is my responsibility,
To be humble and to love,
I will always be.
Sekian, terima kasih.
